This study was carried out to evaluate the total phenolic content and anti-oxidant activity of methanolic extract of red pitaya, and hypocholesterolemic effect of red pitaya (Hylocereus sp.) on lipid profiles status on hypercholesterolemia induced rats. From the analysis, total phenolic content in red pitaya is 46.06 ± 1.77 mg GAE/100 g fresh weight and antioxidant activity is 76.10% using FTC method. TBA analysis also showed red pitaya extract had high antioxidant effect (72.90%). An in-vivo study also showed red pitaya has hypocholesterolemic effect on induced hypercholesterolemia rats. After 11 weeks of study, total blood cholesterol significant decrease (p

Human papillomavirus (HPV) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of cervical cancer. HPV has been found in 99.7% of cervical cancers worldwide. In Malaysia, it is the second most common cancer among women in all major ethnic groups. The main purpose of this study was to establish the method of SyBrGreen Real-Time PCR and apply it for identification of multiple infections of the two high risk HPV subtypes. In this study, 57 positive samples for HPV 16 and HPV 18 were used to establish a simple
and sensitive method to detect and identify HPV infection in the cervical neoplasia at different stages of the disease by using real-time ABICycler SyBrGreen 1 technology. The results showed 67 HPV genomes in 57 samples. HPV 16 genome was detected in 55/67 (82%) cases while HPV 18 was detected in 8/67 (12%) cases with 4 cases showing multiple infections of HPV 16 and HPV 18. HPV 16 was the most prevalent followed by HPV 18. Using SyBr Green Real-Time PCR techniques, the results
showed that DNA melting curve for HPV 16 had a peak around 80.2ºC and Ct value of 20 cycles whereas the DNA melting curve for HPV 18 around 79.2ºC and Ct value of 22 cycles. In conclusion, a SyBr Green Real-Time PCR method has the potential for clinical usage in detection and identification of HPV infection in cervical neoplasia at different stages of the disease.

The growth of web technology has brought convenience to our life, since it has become the most important communication channel. However, now this merit is threatened by complicated network-based attacks, such as denial of service (DoS) and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. Despite many researchers' efforts, no optimal solution that addresses all sorts of HTTP DoS/DDoS attacks is on offer. Therefore, this research aims to fix this gap by designing an alternative solution called a flexible, collaborative, multilayer, DDoS prevention framework (FCMDPF). The innovative design of the FCMDPF framework handles all aspects of HTTP-based DoS/DDoS attacks through the following three subsequent framework's schemes (layers). Firstly, an outer blocking (OB) scheme blocks attacking IP source if it is listed on the black list table. Secondly, the service traceback oriented architecture (STBOA) scheme is to validate whether the incoming request is launched by a human or by an automated tool. Then, it traces back the true attacking IP source. Thirdly, the flexible advanced entropy based (FAEB) scheme is to eliminate high rate DDoS (HR-DDoS) and flash crowd (FC) attacks. Compared to the previous researches, our framework's design provides an efficient protection for web applications against all sorts of DoS/DDoS attacks.

This study was conducted to determine radical scavenging activity and vitamin antioxidant composition in red pitaya from organic plantation. For antioxidant vitamins analysis, a reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography was used and radical scavenging activity of methanolic and water extract were determined using 1,1-diphenyl-2-pircrylhydrazyl assay. Results for radical scavenging activity, red pitaya methanolic extract achieved the highest percentage 70.13% compared with water extract (47.13%). Antioxidant vitamins composition in red pitaya showed that the concentration of vitamin A is 120.13 ± 0.69 μg/100 g freeze-dried sample, vitamin C is 540.27 ± 0.59 μg/100 g fresh samples and vitamin E is 105.67 ± 0.56 μg/100 g freeze-dried samples. This shows that red pitaya may become an alternative and potential source of natural antioxidant.

To ensure the direct delivery of therapeutic hypothermia at a selected constant temperature to the injured brain, a newly innovated direct brain cooling system was constructed. The practicality, effectiveness, and safety of this system were clinically tested in our initial series of 14 patients with severe head injuries. The patients were randomized into two groups: direct brain cooling at 32°C and the control group. All of them received intracranial pressure (ICP), focal brain oxygenation, brain temperature, and direct cortical brainwave monitoring. The direct brain cooling group did better in the Extended Glasgow Outcome Scale at the time of discharge and at 6 months after trauma. This could be owing to a trend in the monitored parameters; reduction in ICP, increment in cerebral perfusion pressure, optimal brain redox regulation, near-normal brain temperature, and lessening of epileptic-like brainwave activities are likely the reasons for better outcomes in the cooling group. Finally, this study depicts interesting cortical brainwaves during a transition time from being alive to dead. It is believed that the demonstrated cortical brainwaves follow the principles of quantum physics.

Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a network-based localized mobility management protocol that supports mobility without mobile nodes' participation in mobility signaling. The details of user authentication procedure are not specified in this standard, hence, many authentication schemes have been proposed for this standard. In 2013, Chuang et al., proposed an authentication method for PMIPv6, called SPAM. However, Chuang et al.'s Scheme protects the network against some security attacks, but it is still vulnerable to impersonation and password guessing attacks. In addition, we discuss other security drawbacks such as lack of revocation procedure in case of loss or stolen device, and anonymity issues of the Chuang et al.'s scheme. We further propose an enhanced authentication method to mitigate the security issues of SPAM method and evaluate our scheme using BAN logic.
