Research publication is an essential part of scientific research process. Writing is a means of communication of scientific work, a means to disseminate the research findings to the public and also to their peers. A scientific paper is a written and published report describing original research results. Getting a paper published in a well-respected peer-reviewed journal is an important goal for any researcher. It is an indication of research success. There are many reasons why people write and this ranged from pure altruism to pleasure to intellectual pursuits to contribute to the scientific knowledge, to improve patient care and to benefit the community and mankind. Reasons to write vary from one individual to another individual. Writing can be difficult and it is seen as a chore, such as, fulfilling a minimum requirement of an organization to get a job, a job confirmation or a promotion, and career development.

Youth sexuality is a great concern for many. Sexual health issues facing our youths are: premarital sexual intercourse, sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted and unsafe pregnancies and abortions, sexual diversity, HIV/AIDS, and cybersex. Various factors lead to risky sexual and reproductive health behavior, particularly among those unmarried youths: lack of sexual and reproductive health information and skills in negotiating sexual relationships and the inaccessibility of youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services. Growing peer pressure of pre-marital sex plays a major role in sexual and reproductive health related decision-making among youths. Another factor is the issue of sexuality education which is still considered a sensitive topic and thus impinging on its implementation, due to cultural and religious constraints. Misunderstanding and a lack of information on sexual diversity have caused a concern for many, as there is a tendency for judgments, stereotypes, discriminations and prejudices towards homosexuality in the society. Online sexual activities or cybersex have become the next sexual revolution. Negative consequences are shown for those hooked on cybersex. Healthy youths are fundamental to the prevention initiatives. Promoting the sexual and reproductive needs and rights of our youths is warranted.

Introduction: The Malay Version of EORTC-QLQ C30 was validated among Malaysian women who had undergone breast cancer surgery. Materials and Methods: Test-retest evaluation (i.e. three weeks and ten weeks following surgery) was carried out to examine the validity and reliability of the scale. The Cronbach’s alpha value was used to determine the internal consistency, meanwhile, test-retest Intraclass Correlation Coeffi cients (ICC) indicates the reliability of the scale. Effect Size Index and Mean Differences interpret the sensitivity of the scale. Discriminant validity was evaluated by comparing two groups i.e. women who had mastectomy and women who had lumpectomy. Results: Internal consistencies are acceptable for Global Health Status (0.91), Functional domains (ranging from 0.50-0.89) and Symptomatology domains (ranging from 0.75-0.99). Intraclass Correlation Coeffi cient (ICC) ranged from 0.05 to 0.99 for Global Health Status and Functional domains, and ranged from 0.13 to 1.00 for Symptomatology domains. Sensitivity of the scale was observed in nearly all of the domains. Conclusion: The Malay Version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC-QLQ C30) is a suitable tool to measure the quality of life of women with breast cancer.

\Elderly abuse exists in our society but is hardly ever reported. This problem often remains undetected because of poor public awareness and lack of knowledge among health care personnel. This article addresses the definition of elderly abuse, characteristics of the abused elderly and their abusers as well as strategies to detect and manage it. Collaboration between health care professionals and government bodies is needed to identify and manage elderly abuse. Ultimately, a legislative "Elder Protective Act" should be implemented to safeguard the rights of our vulnerable elderly.

The objective of this study was to determine the factorial validity of the Chinese version of the General Family
Functioning subscale (GF-12) and to assess parents’ perceived family functioning of children with or without
chronic respiratory disease in Malaysia. Thirty two parents of children with chronic respiratory disease and
30 parents of healthy children were recruited. The GF-12 was administered at baseline and 2 weeks later.
Confirmatory factor analysis showed that our instrument was a 1-factor model assessing general family
functioning. Cronbach’s α value was 0.950. Test-retest reliability coefficient ranged from 0.490-0.790. The overall
mean (standard deviation) score was not significantly different between parent’s perceived family functioning
of children with or without respiratory disease [1.83(0.63) versus 1.65(0.46), p=0.385]. The Chinese version
of the GF-12 was found to be a valid and reliable instrument to assess family functioning in Malaysia. Parents
in the present study showed healthy perceived family functioning (total score >2.00).
